Boris Savinkov

After the February Revolution of 1917, Savinkov became Assistant Minister of War in the Russian Provisional Government. Following the October Revolution, he organized armed resistance against the Bolsheviks. A controversial figure, Savinkov was involved in numerous plots and conspiracies throughout his career. In 1924, he was lured back to the Soviet Union by the OGPU in Operation Trust, arrested, and either killed himself or was murdered in prison the following year.
As a writer, he used the pseudonym V. Ropshin and authored several novels, most notably ''The Pale Horse''. Provided by Wikipedia
