Boris Savinkov

Savinkov in 1917 Boris Viktorovich Savinkov (; 31 January 1879 – 7 May 1925) was a Russian revolutionary, writer, and politician. As a key figure in the Socialist Revolutionary Party's (SR) Combat Organization, he was involved in some of the most prominent assassinations of imperial officials in the early 20th century. He later became a leader of the Union for the Defense of the Motherland and Freedom, an anti-Bolshevik organization.

After the February Revolution of 1917, Savinkov became Assistant Minister of War in the Russian Provisional Government. Following the October Revolution, he organized armed resistance against the Bolsheviks. A controversial figure, Savinkov was involved in numerous plots and conspiracies throughout his career. In 1924, he was lured back to the Soviet Union by the OGPU in Operation Trust, arrested, and either killed himself or was murdered in prison the following year.

As a writer, he used the pseudonym V. Ropshin and authored several novels, most notably ''The Pale Horse''. Provided by Wikipedia
